Welcome to Magpie Art Studio

When you're a kid and people compliment your creativity, it doesn't necessarily mean you are being encouraged to go into the arts as a career.  I longed for it, but ultimately drifted into culinary school and a 23 year long stint as a chef in every form of the word.

But it is now time to come home to art full-time. 

​

Over the years I still dabbled and experimented with dozens of art techniques and styles. I mastered old world handicrafts including brooms, soap, book binding, candles, carpentry, ink making, natural fiber twine, and eco dying. I learned pottery, tile, glass, tile and masonry. I got obsessed with fiber arts including embroidery, crochet, beading, weaving, quilting, costuming and felting. I took class after class in acrylic painting, pastels, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, graffiti, screen printing, block lino carving and illustration.

I love it all. 

That leaves me with the problem of not having one niche.

Magpie Art Studio was born out of an ADHD habit of collecting skills and interests. 

I have now pivoted my energy into teaching. There are so many corners of the art world that have captured my attention and desire to learn. It is time to turn it around and reinvest in community.

There is a little of everything here. 

I'm sure you'll fit right in.
